Curtin University R&D

Cartridge testing with real water samples. In 2024, WAA worked with Curtin University’s Faculty of Science and Engineering to investigate whole-home filtration and under-sink RO, using bore water from four Western Australian locations.

From water samples to system performance

The project, “Filter cartridge test and optimisation for domestic and commercial water quality monitoring”, connected cartridge testing with practical water-treatment questions.

Whole-home filtration & under-sink RO

Experimental rigs examined WAA cartridge configurations and reverse-osmosis treatment. Collected samples were analysed to assess the systems under the study conditions.

Four Australian locations

Bore-water samples came from Ngalingkadji, Pandanus Park, Pia Wadjari and Burringurrah, bringing different source-water conditions into the investigation.

The project at a glance

2024 project

Cartridge testing and optimisation with Curtin University’s Faculty of Science and Engineering.

Two treatment formats

Experimental work included whole-home filtration and under-sink reverse osmosis.

Four water sources

Bore-water samples from four Western Australian locations brought source-water differences into the study.

Sample analysis

Collected samples were analysed to assess treatment under the project’s test conditions.
